Meet Your Admissions Leadership Team
Director, Undergraduate Admissions
Amanda has worked for the Undergraduate Admissions department since 2003 and has held positions in both recruitment and operations. She first came to SIU as a student to study speech communication and decided to stay for a career at the university because she fell in love with the campus and community. Her advice to students is to work and study hard during college, but don’t forget to take some time to have fun too. SIU has a fantastic mix of unique educational experiences and opportunities to enjoy your time as a student.
Associate Director, Recruitment
Jen Phillips is a double degree alumni of SIU, earning both her Bachelor's degree in Psychology as well as her Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling. Over the course of 20 years, Jen worked in a variety of capacities in private education; serving in positions ranging from direct service, administration, fund-raising, and admissions. Jen returned to her educational roots at SIU in October 2019 where she began with SIU in the position of AD of Freshmen Recruitment. Besides working with young adults in assisting them in their transition to college, Jen really enjoys her position as serving as a team leader of Freshmen Admissions Coordinators. One of Jen's favorite aspects of her job is assisting young professionals to continue to discover, improve, and challenge themselves everyday! Jen's advice for an incoming student is to take advantage of the career development center, as they will be an important resource throughout your entire college journey!
Associate Director, Transfer Relations
Josi is originally from Carbondale, and has grown up in the community. She is a double degree alum from SIU, with a B.S. in University Studies and an M.S. in Education. As a student worker, graduate assistant, and professional, Josi has worked in many areas of campus, but in 2019 she found her home in Undergraduate Admissions. Josi supports a team of Admissions Coordinators who work primarily with transfer students. Her advice to students is to get involved on campus! SIU has a variety of clubs and organizations, both academic and extracurricular, that help to form a well-balanced college experience.
Assistant Director, Communications
Taylor earned her Bachelor’s degree in English and Master’s degree in Education from SIU. She fell in love with SIU as a child when she attended classes with her father, a non-traditional SIU student, and knew from an early age she was going to be a Saluki. Taylor has held positions in Undergraduate Admissions as both a student and professional staff member. In her role as AD of Communications, she leads the Undergraduate Admissions Communications team. Her advice to students is to make use of all available resources and make connections on campus: talk to your professors, join an organization, befriend a fellow Saluki of a different major. The connections you make at SIU will ensure you succeed during your time on campus and beyond! Once a Saluki, always a Saluki!
