The Saluki Transfer Pathways program is for students who plan to attend a community college first, and then transfer to SIU Carbondale for a specific major. The program is intended to help students prepare their transfer to SIU well in advance of the matriculation date and take some of the stress out of the transfer process.
Students can apply to SIU up to 2 years in advance and be conditionally admitted into the university!

How to Qualify
In order to qualify for Saluki Transfer Pathways a student must:
Have at least two semesters remaining at community college.
Deadline to apply for summer or fall entry: October 1 of the prior fall semester
Deadline to apply for spring entry: March 1 of the prior spring semester
Have and maintain at least a 2.0/4.0 cumulative GPA while attending the community college.
As calculated according to SIU policy
Attend one of the following:
A community college in Illinois
Kentucky Community & Technical College System
St. Louis Community College
St. Charles Community College
Mineral Area College
Three Rivers Community College
Ivy Tech Community College
Send official transcripts to SIU at the end of every semester.
Benefits
There are many benefits available to transfer students taking part in the Saluki Transfer Pathways Program, including:
The Transfer Plan, which shows a student how the credit earned so far transfers to SIU, the degree requirements for earning the specified bachelor’s degree at SIU, and a list of courses (in the community college course numbers) that a student may take and apply toward the intended bachelor’s degree at SIU.
Personalized contact with an SIU staff member.
Early conditional admission to SIU Carbondale.
Successful participation in the program will earn the student a $3,000 scholarship ($1,500/year for two years)
Students must have earned at least 30 transferable hours at a 3.0 GPA as calculated by SIU.
How to Apply
How to Apply to the Saluki Transfer Pathways Program
Students who wish to apply will need to complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission. To ensure consideration for Saluki Transfer Pathways, students will need to:
Answer “yes” to the question that asks if the student would like to participate in the Saluki Transfer Pathways Program Program.
List the community college attending, along with any other colleges or universities attended.
Choose a specific SIU major.
Choose the term that he or she intends to transfer to SIU.
Submit the necessary credentials to be admitted to the SIU (see below).
Students with 26 or more transferable semester hours of credit must:
Submit official college transcripts from every college or university attended.
Have at least a 2.0/4.0 cumulative GPA (as calculated by SIU).
Be eligible to continue enrollment at the last institution attended.
Students with less than 26 transferable semester hours of credit must:
Submit official college transcripts from every college or university attended.
Have at least a 2.0/4.0 cumulative GPA (as calculated by SIU).
Be eligible to continue enrollment at the last institution attended.
Must meet freshman admission criteria for SIU.
Submit official high school transcripts for review.
Once you have been conditionally admitted, you will be contacted by the Undergraduate Admissions Office to start the Saluki Transfer Pathways program!

The Saluki Transfer Estimator Portal (STEP) is a web-based tool that integrates institutional course equivalency and degree audit data to provide an unofficial credit estimation and a more seamless transfer process.
