Be a Student Life Advisor (SLA) and make a difference! Serve as a student leader for SIUC. Assist new students and their families with the transition to campus life. Serve as a "Saluki Mover." Learn how to give a campus tour. Develop your leadership skills. APPLY TODAY!
The Student Life Advisor (SLA) acts on behalf of Southern Illinois University Carbondale during Week of Welcome (WOW) programs. The SLA is responsible
for recruiting new students to attend all scheduled WOW events, and demonstrating responsible behavior during training and orientation activities. Overall,
the SLA has the responsibility for providing each new student participating in WOW with the best possible introduction and transition to the university environment.
3. Fulfill all work responsibilities during the time period of August 11 - August 21, 2008 (training schedule is subject to change, and there will be additional training sessions in spring).
4. Participate in training and Week of Welcome activities including, but NOT LIMITED to:
Attending SLA group meetings
Assisting new students moving into the residence halls
Serving as a liaison between the new students and their families and SIUC
Providing accurate information to new students
Assisting with the preparation of Week of Welcome programs
5.Display and promote responsible behavior while serving as an SLA and understand, accept, and abide by university rules and regulations as outlined in the Student Conduct Code.
6.Register for at least six (6) academic credit hours for the fall 2007 semester.
7.Notify New Student Programs staff to discuss special arrangements as needed.
To complete this application, you must:
1. Be currently enrolled as an SIUC student.
2. Be in good disciplinary standing as defined by Student Judicial Affairs.
3. Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.50
