Options for Transfer Students

Students in Class Individualized Two Plus Two Program

This program is only for students who will be attending a community college before coming to Southern. This program assists students who have selected a specific major and plan to transfer to SIUC to complete a Bachelor’s degree. Participants receive an academic plan detailing all courses required to complete a specific baccalaureate degree program at SIUC. Included in the plan is a list of their community college courses that can be substituted for SIUC coursework. The student receives feedback in the form of a semester by semester transfer credit evaluation report of their community college coursework. The Capstone Option

The Capstone Option is for the student who has earned or will soon earn an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree or equivalent certification and whose SIUC major is one of those listed here as participating in the Capstone Option. The Capstone Option makes it possible for students to earn a bachelor's degree in 60 additional hours and allows them to complete an abbreviated University Core Curriculum requirement (30 hours vs. 41 hours). Illinois Articulation Initiative

Students who complete the Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum (IAI GECC) and have been certified by the sending institution will have the SIUC University Core Curriculum requirements for general graduation purposes completed.

Any of the IAI GECC courses will count toward the fulfillment of a requirement within the SIUC University Core Curriculum.

Beginning summer 2008, students who have completed at least 30 transferable semester hours from a regionally accredited Illinois community college have the option to either finish up the IAI GECC or the SIUC University Core Curriculum.
