SIU transfer students studying outside

You’re on a unique journey. SIU is here to guide you to your destination.

We welcome transfer students at all stages of their college careers. Students come to us from community college, other Illinois universities, surrounding states, and even from other countries.

An additional step or screening process is required for certain programs. Requirements for direct entry into some programs exceed university admission requirements. Please be sure to read the Special Conditions section.

Dual Admission

Be prepared

The Dual Admission Program (DAP) is for students who plan to attend a community college first, then transfer to SIU Carbondale for a specific major.  The program is intended to help students prepare their transfer to SIU well in advance of the matriculation date and take some of the stress out of the transfer process.

Dual Enrollment

Lock in tuition

The dual enrollment component of the Dual Admission Program allows students to enroll in an online transfer orientation course while attending the community college, locking in the current SIU Carbondale tuition rate for four years. Learn about enrolling at SIU now through the Dual Admission Program.

Scholarships and Aid

Complete and submit your FAFSA form any time after January 1 for the following academic year. The priority deadline is February 15.

February 1 is the deadline for most campus-based scholarships.

Private scholarships have their own timeframes.
