High School Students
Southern Illinois University in Carbondale admits freshman applicants who have graduated from high school. We do make exceptions for students participating in our High School Concurrent Enrollment program and for those who have earned the G.E.D.
You should apply well in advance of the term you want to attend. To get your application on the priority review list, all application materials are due by December 1st. The final application deadline for a fall start is May 1st.
Many programs require additional materials or screening so make sure you check.
Freshman Application Checklist
To be considered, you must submit:
- A completed application for admission and scholarships.
- A $30 non-refundable application fee. Fees may be waived for students who meet certain income levels. See your high school guidance counselor for details.
- An official copy of ACT or SAT scores. These must be sent directly from the testing organization. Our school codes are 1144 for ACT and 1726 for SAT.
- Current, official transcripts from each high school and college you’ve attended. All transcripts must be issued within the last 30 days and be contained in official sealed envelopes. A final high school transcript will be required upon graduation and completion of all high school course work.
